A world without coins

A world without coins

The first area of the Museum contains a display of items that have been used as money. Objects whose value is accepted by an entire community and that by virtue of which can be used in exchange for other goods. These items are usually referred to as pre-currency, but they do not necessarily bear any relation in time to metal money. They are simply alternative models of patterns of exchange that were less successful and did not develop, although some are still in use.
